Boone NC to Fancy Gap VA

What an outstanding day!

The ladies at the Holiday Inn Express served up eggs, biscuits and gravy. I was getting tired of oatmeal.

Then I found out that the route had changed and there was 1,000 feet less of climbing today. Wahoo!

Unfortunately the only thing that tired to spoil the day was the fog. Because we have to leave at 7:30 (just after sunrise), we were in the morning Boone traffic. The fog was heavy and it was still pretty dark making the first ten miles pretty exciting. It was hard to see both because of the fog and the water dripping off my glasses and mirror.

After the fog the day was beautiful. The temperature started in the fifties and was in the seventies all day.

The climbs were much more moderate than the last two days. Rode 92 miles in 7 hrs and 20 minutes and climbed 8087 feet.

The model we are staying at isn’t all that great. We had to have a pizza dinner in the parking lot since there is no where to eat nearby.

Larry,
Sometimes glasses really get in the way, don't they?
Glad you guys had some cooler temps to ride in at least.
Do you have noodle legs yet?
Take care and safe riding!

Larry, Just caught up on your first days. Nice work so far! Looks like today is an easier day based on mileage and elevation gain. Keep up the great work! The Webers (David, Kristin and the kids)

Can't believe you're still upbeat!
So when does this route level out, or do they have you doing hills every day?! Go Long!
Hugs,
